Operating on the ground during the highly volatile initial months of the global pandemic, they pushed a shopping cart stocked with hygiene supplies and protective packages through the Tenderloin in San Francisco and Eric alone in Los Angeles to evaluate crisis awareness. The empirical data they gathered through over one hundred raw iPhone interviews revealed a catastrophic public health communication gap: exactly 5 out of 10 unsheltered individuals surveyed had zero knowledge that the coronavirus even existed in San Francisco.
