Kaan Kansu Toprak is an independent researcher, writer, scientist, cultural carrier of the Turkish minstrel (ashik) tradition, poet, composer, and performer. His works create a bridge between the Turkish folk music tradition and contemporary musical expression. He uses the pseudonym Aşkuzâr in his traditional-style works to emphasize cultural identity; however, he also incorporates original and alternative approaches.
